Daimler Truck’s Fuso subsidiary has commenced production of the Next Generation eCanter, an electric truck, at the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck Europe facility in Tramagal, Portugal.
The Next Generation eCanter will be available in Europe with six wheelbases and varying gross vehicle weights ranging from 4.25 to 8.55 tons (9,370 to 18,850 lb.). Models with gross vehicle weights of 4.25 and 6 tons (13,230 lb.) will be equipped with 110-kW motors, while those at 7.49 and 8.55 tons (16,500 and 18,850 lb.) will feature 129 kW. The powertrain boasts 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque, and the maximum speed is limited to 89 km/h.
The battery range of the vehicle depends on the selected battery pack. There are three options available. The S variant provides a 70-km range with a 41 kWh battery pack. The M variant doubles the range to 140 km with an 83 kWh battery pack. The L variant offers a 200-km range with a 124 kWh battery pack. In comparison, the earlier eCanters had an 81 kWh battery pack and a range of up to 100 km.
