Foton, short for Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., is a major Chinese automaker headquartered in Beijing. Founded in 1996, Foton is a subsidiary of the BAIC Group. They are known for designing and manufacturing a wide range of commercial vehicles including trucks, buses, and construction machinery. Foton has also branched out into sport utility vehicles (SUVs).  They are a leader in China’s commercial vehicle industry, and are also making strides in new energy technology for electric and hydrogen powered vehicles.
